Sarikkal Aḍavu

Meaning: To sit and slide your leg.

Mandala: Muzhumandi, Garuda mandala

Hasta’s: Shikara, Pataka, Alapadma, Katakamukha

Solkattu: Tangida Tatta Dhinna

 

1.       Sarikkal adavu

Both hands in Shikhara held in front of the chest. Sit in Muzhumandi

Tangida: Small jump on your toes

Tatta Dhinna: Slide your right leg sideways (into sideways garuda mandala), while your right hand is in Pataka stretched forwards, torso facing left. Left hand remains in front of the chest in Shikhara.                                              

Repeat on left 

2.       Sarikkal adavu

Start with first Sarikkal adavu.

Tangida: Come back on to Muzhumandi, Left arm stretched out, left hand in Katakamukha, right arm stretched downwards,right hand in Alapadama

Tatta Dhinna: Slide your right leg backwards (into backwards garuda mandala), while your right arm is stretched above your head, hand in Katakamukha, with your back arched.

 Repeat on left
