Paraval Adavu

Meaning: To spread out. This adavu involves wide sweeping movements of the feet

Mandala : Aramandi, Swastikam,Prerita and Sthanaka

Hasta’s   : Katakamukha, Alapadma, Pataka, Dola, Shikara and Tripataka.

Solkattu  : Ta Tai Tai Ta I Di Tai Tai Ta II

 

Adavu 1

​Start with both hands in front of the chest in Katakamukha.

​Ta : Stamp on the flat of the right foot, right arm stretched out in front, right hand in Alapadma.

​Tai : Move the right foot away sideways from the left foot(Prerita) and stamp, right arm to move horizontally towards the right to start a circular movement reaching the far right.

​Tai : Cross the left foot behind the right and stamp on the ball of the left foot(swastika),the right arm continuing the circular movement to end at the back with the torso turned to the right side.

Ta: Stamp on the flat of the right foot with the right hand moving back to starting position.

​Di Tai Tai Ta : Repeat all above movements starting from left.

Adavu 2

​Start with both hands in front of the chest in Katakamukha.

​Ta : Stamp on the flat of the right foot,the right arm stretched out above the head,right hand in Alapadma.

​Tai : Move the right foot away sideways from the left foot and stamp (prerita),right arm to move vertically towards the right to start a circular movement reaching the far right.

​Tai : Cross the left foot behind the right foot and stamp on the ball of the left foot (swastika), right arm continuing the circular movement towards the floor to end right arm stretched out pointing towards the floor,right hand in Alapadma. Torso bent downwards at the waist.

​Ta: Stamp on the flat of the right foot witht he right hand moving back to starting position.

​Di Tai Tai Ta : Repeat all the above movements starting from the left.

 

Adavu 3 :

​Start with both hands in front of the chest in Katakamukha.

​Ta Tai Tai Ta I ​Di Tai Tai Ta II

Movements same as adavu 2

​Turn right.

​Ta Tai Tai Ta I Di Tai Tai Ta II

​Repeat adavu 2 facing right.

​After completing keep turning right and repeat adavu 2 till you are facing forwards again.

 

Adavu 4

​Ta : Stamp on the flat of the left foot, left arm in Dola, Right hand stretched to the far right, right hand in Shikara.

​Tai : Move the left foot away sideways from the right foot and stamp on the left foot(prerita),right arm to move on top of the head (high above ) shikhara hasta is inverted downwards.

​Tai : Cross the right foot behind the left and stamp on the ball of the right foot(swastika),right arm travels towards the front of the chest, right hand in shikara.

​Ta : Stamp on the left foot with shikara in right hand in front of the chest.

​Di Tai Tai Ta : Repeat the above starting from right foot with left hand in shikara.
