Pakka Aḍavu

Meaning : Sideways or diagonal movements.

This adavu also  involves stamping of one foot and lifting of other foot.

Mandala : Araimandi, Swastika, Prenkhana, garuda mandala

Hasta’s : Tripataka

Solkattu : Tat tai ta ha dhit tai ta ha

 

1.First Pakka adavu.  (Adavu done on the spot)

Start in araimandi. Both hands held in front of chest in Tripataka.

Tat : Tap right leg. Right arm is stretched out right hand in Tripataka, facing up and the left hand is close to the chest in Tripataka facing down

Tai : Tap left leg. Bring back the right hand close to the chest with Tripataka facing down and left arm is stretched out with left hand in Tripataka facing up.

Ta: Jump on the balls of your feet. Hands are in the same position as above. A slight movement with the right elbow as you jump on the balls of your feet.

Ha:Tap the right leg while the heel of the left foot is still raised. Arms remain in the same position but left palm turns down (Tripataka facing down) and right palm faces up . (Tripataka facing up).

Dhit tai ta ha : Repeat starting left. Once right and left sides have been completed;

Tat:Tap right leg. Right hand is stretched out diagonally to the left side with body bending to the right, right hand in Tripataka facing up and the left hand is close to the chest in Tripataka facing down

Tai : Tap left leg. Bring back the right hand close to the chest with Tripataka facing down and left arm is stretched out with left hand in Tripataka facing up.

Ta: Jump on the balls of your feet. Hands are in the same position above. A slight movement with the right elbow while you jump is performed.

Ha: Tap the right leg while the heel of the left foot is still raised. Arms remain in the same position but left palm turns down (Tripataka facing down) and right palm faces up . (Tripataka facing up).

Dhit tai ta ha: Repeat starting left side, left arm diagonally.

2. Second Pakka adavu (Adavu done on the spot)

Same feet movements as above but different arm movements

Tat: Left hand in Tripataka in front of chest. Right arm , deep sideways, stretched out, right hand in Tripataka

Tai : Hands stay as above

Ta : Left hand in Tripataka in front of chest. Right arm moves up into high forward diagonal and is on top of the head, right hand in Tripataka.

Ha : Left hand in Tripataka in front of chest. Right arm moves back into deep sideways down, right hand in Tripataka.

Repeat left side

3. Third Pakka adavu ( Adavu done on the spot)

Same feet movements as first Pakka adavu but different arm movements

Tat: Left hand in Tripataka in front of chest. Right hand in Tripataka, right arm makes a circular movement backwards and

Tai : Right arm comes up into high forward and stays in that position, right hand in Tripataka facing out.Left hand in Tripataka in front of chest.

Ta : Hands stays in high forward diagonal, Tripataka facing out with slight movement of right shoulder inwards. Left hand in Tripataka in front of chest.

Ha : Right arm stays in high forward diagonal, Tripataka faces in. Body bends to the right, head faces left.Left hand in Tripataka in front of chest.

Repeat left side.

4. Fourth Pakka adavu ( travelling )

Tat : Right leg in prenkhana and body bent to the right appropriately. Right arm is stretched out right hand in Tripataka, facing up and the left hand is close to the chest in Tripataka facing down

Tai : Left leg crosses to the front to form a swastika. Bring back the right hand close to the chest with Tripataka facing down and left arm is stretched out with left hand in Tripataka facing up, body stretched to the right.

Ta: Jump on the balls of your feet. Hands are in the same position as above. A slight movement with the right elbow as you jump on the balls of your feet.

Ha: Tap the right leg while the heel of the left foot is still raised. Arms remain in the same position but left palm turns down (Tripataka facing down) and right palm faces up . (Tripataka facing up).

Dhit tai ta ha : Repeat travelling starting left leg.

5. Fifth Pakka adavu (travelling)

Tat : Tap right leg. Right arm is stretched out deep sideways right hand in Tripataka, and the left hand is close to the chest in Tripataka facing up

Tai : Tap left leg. Left arm is stretched out deep sideways left hand in Tripataka, right hand is close to the chest in Tripakata facing up

Ta: Slide right foot diagonally left into garuda mandala, right arm stretched diagonally forward right hand in Tripataka facing up, left hand in Tripataka in front of the chest.

Ha: Join left foot to form ayata, while left arm is stretched out left hand in Tripataka facing up, right hand in front of chest Tripataka facing down.

Dhit: Jump on the balls of your feet. Hands are in the same position as above. A slight movement with the right elbow while you jump is performed.

tai: Tap the right leg while the heel of the left foot is still raised. Arms remain in the same position but left palm turns down (Tripataka facing down) and right palm faces up . (Tripataka facing up).
