Maņḍi Aḍavu

Meaning :  Mandi means knee. This adavu movement consists of jumping on toes and resting one or both knees on the floor.

Mandala : Muzhumandi, Motitam, Eka pada

Hasta’s : Tripataka, Pataka, Alapdma, Katakhamukha

Solkattu: Tangida tatta dhinna

1.Mandi adavu

Sit in muzhumandi with arms stretched in natyarambha with hands in Tripataka facing down

Tangida  :  Jump on the spot in muzhumandi. Right palm turns up

Tatta dhinna: Drop right knee down on the floor(motitam), Tripataka on right hand returns to starting position

Repeat on left

2.Mandi adavu

Sit in muzhumandi with arms stretched in natyarambha with hands in Tripataka facing down

Tangida :  Jump on the spot in muzhumandi. Right palm turns up

Tatta Dhinna: Drop right knee down on the floor(motitam), Tripataka on right hand returns to starting position

Tangida : Jump on the spot in muzhumandi, left arm stretched out, left hand in katakhamukha and right arm stretched in front with hands in alapadma

Tatta Dhinna: Stand up into eka pada, left arm stretched out, left hand in katakhamukha and right arm stretched on top of head with right hand in katakhamukha

Repeat on left
